so, I’m running my first marathon. 🙃 which surprised a few people when I told them the @londonmarathon will be my first marathon since I’m known to be running in these Chicago streets, through the night of deserts, & leaving my footprints around the world. but these 26.2 miles are more than a medal + more than a race — it’s bigger than me. 1.6% of marathoners in America are Black. Toeing the line on April 23rd represents a shift in the narrative for Black people running long distance events & continues to diversify the sport. Toeing the line in London surrounded by friends & family is a celebration of how running looks different. I’m up for the challenge & all the beautiful memories it is going to bring on the journey.
