I took a break from instagram for a month, but I couldn’t keep my mouth shut about all this shit. I wanted to share one recent experience that I’ve had in this country as a black man. On Wednesday night, I was getting off the freeway as I noticed I was being tailed by two police cars. I stayed calm, but realized after 5-10 minutes of this with barely any cars on the road, that I was clearly being followed. The police mimicked each turn I made until I reached home. They looked at me in my car and slowly drove past me. As I began to unload things from my car, I saw the cops turn around from a block away. They approached me in front of my home with their high beams on. They screamed something unintelligible, laughed and drove away. This isn’t the first time I’ve been followed home by police. This childish taunting from law enforcement is something light for a young man at the age of 21 who has already been wrongfully detained, pulled over for no given reason, accused of stealing my own car and been verbally abused with demeaning language and crass racial slurs by police. My heart has been hurting for a long time as well as my family and friends and it has just gotten worst within the past week. Black people have been having to walk outside feeling like there is a target on their chest for too long. WE NEED TO WAKE THE FUCK UP! I need all of my white friends and acquaintances to please step up and fight this fight with us because this isn’t going to stop without your help. Our justice system has been systemically corrupt for too long and the people are finally realizing it and fighting for what we believe in and what we deserve. We need a different world for our children, we need a different world for our present. A revolution is coming, we as people are unifying and we have the strength to fight this fight. P.S. pls read some black literature, eat at black restaurants, get hip to BLACK art, y’all already listen to black music everyday. cus our lives matter and we talented beautiful human beings too 😘 RIP GEORGE FLOYD AND ALL OUR FALLEN SOLDIERS
