For example, believing everyone must say “Happy Birthday” to you on your big day is an expectation. If you cannot be happy unless they express these wishes, you are attached to that expectation. You may even hold a grudge against someone for an innocent mistake they’ve made. Attachments can turn our relationships sour.⁣ ⁣ Admittedly, it can hurt when people disappoint you – especially when they do it repeatedly. I find that the most empowering and practical way to live is to place your focus and energy on those who consistently reciprocate your love and commitment. But you must understand that these people will still disappoint you because no one is flawless, including ourselves. Nevertheless, if someone clearly shows they support you more often than not, give more energy to them.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣ And, be wary of those who do not operate and love from the same place of awareness as you. Perhaps they aren’t bringing the same devotion to your relationships that you are. Do not regret anything you shared out of the goodness of your heart.
