When I first became fascinated by photography Michael Ackerman was one of the first photographers’ whose work I fell in love with. I used to keep an inspiration blog years ago and he was there too. I couldn’t stop staring at his photos, there was so much feeling. I still feel as strongly, if not more. (Thank you @shinylittle !) When I got the opportunity to meet him, I was 1000% terrified. Even the thought of meeting the person behind all these photos that I have been looking at for years was overwhelming. Michael turned out to be one of the loveliest people ever. He was as fascinating as his photos. And very generous in every way. He is also the type of the person who does not mind long silences, pauses so of course I could not stop talking (felt infinitely embarrassed as it was happening!), I don’t even know what I talked about to be honest but he patiently listened 😭 he was also nice enough to let me shoot couple of rolls of film. If you are not familiar with his work you are missing out.
