If you started following this page when it was Modern Brown Girl, you may have noticed a change. After six wonderful years of creating content that amplifies the Latina voice, I’ve decided to no longer update Modern Brown Girl and put a close on that chapter of my life. ✨ I created MBG in 2015 to keep up with my writing while taking care of my two small babies. My mission was to tell stories about women of color outside of Hispanic Heritage Month, Black History Month, or any other designated timeframe. I had the honor of meeting so many amazing women who shared with me their stories, and together we created friendships that will last a lifetime. ✨ But I’m not going to lie—building a digital platform is HARD. People say they want this type of specialized content, but the numbers just don’t show it (at least not for MBG). I did the WORK and did ALL the incubators and took ALL the meetings with funders—but with a full-time job and two kids, it’s time for me to put my focus elsewhere. ✨ However, there are STILL stories to be told and I am STILL working in media.
