🐾 How to include your dog(s) in your engagement session ✨ 🛑 NO retractable leashes - these are a pain the butt + they are not as photogenic... plus these in your hand are 1,000,000 times harder for us to potentially edit out. ✅ BRING EXCITING TREATS. High value is the way to go, aka not their everyday kibble. The smellier the better. I’ve had folks bring freeze dried cod, chopped up cheese sticks, frozen blueberries... whatever their fave is. Bring it so I can wave it around. 🛑 DO NOT unhook your pup during your photo session unless you’re in your own fenced in yard/home for the shoot. Dog parks aren’t safe for sessions so you’ll likely end up in a beautiful park your dog isn’t familiar with and all sorts of new smells around - for their safety keep them on-leash. We will edit it out. Or, if you brought a cute solid leash (leather or braided) it can remain in a few snaps. Let’s all avoid the lost or injured puppers please. ✅ EXERCISE them before your session. A walk, long game of fetch, you name it. Get them nice and pooped. They’ll typically focus more this way and also likely be drooling for those yummy treats we mentioned above. ✅ BRING THE DANG POOP BAGS. ‘Nough said. Don’t be that guy. 💩 ✨BONUS ✨ ✅ BRING A HELPER ✅ALERT YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER TO ANY ANXIETIES/FEARS YOUR PUP HAS 🛑 DO NOT let your pup rush all up on your photographer - greeting needs to happen at a safe pace - there are some pups we just cannot get close to and that’s ok - whatever keeps them most comfortable during their time in front of the camera 🛑 DO NOT shoot at a dog park. Noting this AGAIN. It is not a controlled or safe environment in the slightest for a photo shoot especially if treats are in the mix. You never know another dog’s triggers ✅ If your dog is too anxious for the great outdoors - plan for a backyard or in-home session snuggled up in your favorite little nooks. It’s authentically you as a little fam and doesn’t stress out your furbaby ❤️❤️❤️ ✅ Make sure you hire a dog-friendly photographer for your engagements/wedding (like us!). Not all photographers agree to work with pets! It takes an understanding in canine behavior / lots of patience ❤️❤️❤️
