Shot over the course of 2 and a half all-nighters in Malibu Canyon. The 5 or 6 clips you see here were culled down from about 20 sequence and over 10K images. I always try to keep a short interval, resulting in a ton of images. Even when I know it only need 10s of final playback, I might shoot 2500 images, because it gives me the flexibility to speed up and slow down and create mood or match the music. It also allows me to stack and blend the sped-up sections creating a long-exposure look (like in the first clip on this video). You also never know when the fog will do something crazy like almost swallow the mountain, and it’s nice to be able to slow that part down to 100%. Using a short interval comes at a cost tho. Storage space being a literal monetary cost, but it also increases processing, editing and review time. There’s also a qualitative cost in the noise from using higher iso and vignette from shooting wide-open. Those require more time and even money (for special software) to correct. Speaking of which, this is my first time using @TopazLabs AI Video Enhance.
