Hello everyone! I am writing to you from one of my favorite places. Can you guess where? When it comes to surviving Antarctica’s harsh climate, penguins have always sought solace in each other’s company. There is, after all, strength in numbers and even the most formidable terrain can suddenly seem traversable when you know you are not alone. Like all of the continent’s wildlife, however, penguins would not survive without healthy sea ice. The cyclical formation of ice supports some of the most productive ecosystems on Earth, including the world’s largest krill population— a crucial species that is currently declining at an alarming rate.
