Medias res - ‘in the midst of things’ This collection is a twist on traditions derived from my families heritage from the 1930s. I use these symbolic motifs to create a new design language. My womenswear collection pose new identities with the silhouettes and shape drawn from the early works of Henning Christopher his book Voodoo and Alan Locke’s anthropology ‘The New Negro’. I merged those reference with my British up bringing to pair new concepts of hybrid culture. So glad to finally be sharing my grad collection I’ve been working on for the past few months,I feel that through creativity it is possible to achieve meaning, thought provoking conversations and real world solutions. Through the last few months I find myself merging identities some of which I welcomed along the way to channel the final outcomes of this collection and feel privileged to be around such creative minds along the way. It’s to them I owe the pleasure of sharing this volume of work ♥️
