Monday night at 18h30 and Wednesday night at 18h00, both at Shakti Shala, are the last regularly scheduled yoga asana classes I will be teaching for a while! After teaching non-stop for five years, I am taking a break to focus on growing my businesses with my partners Laura + Harry + Val + Thomas + Rob, and also growing my personal life and projects with all the space and time that this requires! Once the physical kosha of the body is tuned, the spine is straighter and the measuring of life experiences with the tools of your senses more heightened so that you are much quicker to point the needle of your own compass in the right direction. This is the point of asana (or postures). What happens after is the magic - the uncovering of the more subtle natures of our being, our abilities to create and connect and weave mysticism into the every day. Now my own yoga asana practice is much more maintenance-based: remembering to connect the breath to the movement, keeping the intelligence flowing in and around the body. My real yoga practice is the act of remembering, every day. Remembering and then forgetting and then remembering again, and with this cycle comes the bursting open of the heart and the great compassion one feels when all is connected. Yoga is the journey of a lifetime, your practice evolves over time, it adjusts to where you are at on both a gross and subtle level - and now I really feel that my own practice is to bring my fire (rajas) and my darkness + immobility (tamas) into balance, and with this sattvic light explore other areas of creativity that have been tugging on my shirttails for years now, always brushed to the side because of my fear of failure disguised as an over-full agenda. I will miss you yogis! I will miss you but I will see you in class when I am there as a student, and I will see you here and there, and I will see you in all the beauty in this world, and I am so grateful for all of you!!!
