Do you remember when you were younger and exercise was just called “play”?
When you moved your bodies PURELY for joy?
Not for losing weight.
Not for burning calories.
JUST because you enjoyed it and it made you feel good!
As you get older, moving your body quickly changes from something you WANT to do, to something you feel like you HAVE to do!
Growing up, especially as a woman, you are conditioned to believe movement exists only to LOSE something, to be smaller, thinner and weigh less.
When I was younger I genuinely loved playing with my friends, moving my body in ways that felt fun and made me feel good BUT when I became a teenager, things started shift.
Every magazine, every tv show, even scenes in movies ALL centred around movement existing solely to CHANGE your body, doing something you hated to become the smallest version of yourself was a narrative that felt overwhelming!
I wasted most of my teenage and adult life conditioned by this narrative, I’d either avoid movement completely or move my body in ways I didn’t like, desperate to take up as LITTLE space as possible.
Now, how and why I move my body is no longer dictated by society, I want to RECLAIM the joy movement gave me when I was younger!
Move your body because you LOVE your body.
Move your body because you ENJOY it.
Move your body because it makes you FEEL good.
Release yourself from the pressures of society, not only for yourself, but for the younger version of you who LOVED to play 💗
