Created by South Carolina-based Brandon Kent in 2018, @1990archives captures the grittiest, grungiest, and freakiest moments of the 90s. Kent initially created the account after noticing that amongst the many 90s archive accounts of IG, not many focused on the alternative side of the era. “I felt like it was a missed opportunity due to how culturally important this period of music and fashion was and still is,” said Kent. His archive features many candid peeks into the lives of the likes of Nirvana, Bjork, Deftones, and Rage Against the Machine, as well as the surrounding subculture of the time. His account is a perfectly curated journey back in time, one that “keep[s] these moments alive for the people who were able to experience them first-hand, and shares them with people who might not be as familiar.
