I describe myself as a dreamer, but what I’m learning is that I am a strong visualizer. Yesterday was my 5 year New York Anniversary and it still reminds me of when I was 16 years old, saving my money in an old coffee can and refusing to spend my Pier 1 gift card until I got my first New York apartment. I dreamed of moving here, and it was only a matter of time for when I could make that happen. I finally made the move when I was 29 and it was the perfect time and collection of professional experience. A phrase that I’ve once said was that “I moved with 2 suitcases and a dream” and the rest was up to the universe. I am grateful for the people that I work with and hang out with that continue to make my New York dream brighter. Within 5 years I have worked amazing shows with New York Fashion week, had a billboard in time square, started a beauty brand, and partnered with major beloved brands on everything beauty related from content, to artistry, to campaign work and one of the most rewarding is being a mentor to my former students and seeing them grow. Sometimes it’s hard to gage growth in passing time, so it’s nice to stop and celebrate hard work, perseverance and never giving up with an anniversary of an accomplishment that means so much. Cheers to another 5 years and can’t wait to to see what will align in the next half decade.
