The village of Imerovigli is the quieter luxurious sister of the main town Fira. You won’t find a McDonald’s here but you’ll find some of the upscale and decadent restaurants on the island serving anything from traditional Greek cuisine to modern fusion along with some of the best views of the classic Cycladic architecture. People generally tend to run to Oia (fun fact: it’s pronounced ee-a) for the views of the Caldera and pay overly high prices to stay there’s. This is the mistake we’ve made also. Oia is overpopulated with tourists and feels like a spring break at Disney World. The views in Imerovigli are just as beautiful and the town has a more authentic feel.
