First snowy days in Chicago have me thinking of these times. Lots of new folks around here may not know that Ronny Bass got started while Chris and I lived in this barn in western NC! We relocated from LA and New York respectively, for what we figured would be a few months waiting out Covid - but ended up sticking around just over a year and a half. When the cold season started coming around, Chris worked hard to insulate the barn and cut down I think 7 total trees to keep us warm that winter. Around this time of 2020, we moved the shop from the bottom floor to the top floor as it was the only part we could keep warm and my fingers had started getting too cold to sew! 🤣 I’ll never forget living in this special place. Sure, it came with challenges that help sitting drinking coffee in an insulated home this morning feel extra special... but it’s easy to see how magical it was, too. Our dogs sprinted down that hill out front every morning, we hosted bonfires, and made it home. We started a business together, learned all about each other, and fell in love. A little valley tucked away from all the turmoil of those times, all made possible by Susan @sparklinganvil. I love reminiscing and am deeply thankful for that chapter of life. I’m not sure if we’ll ever have one like it again. But we are who we are as a couple because of it, and it will always be the first home of Ronny Bass.
