Say hi to one of our very own at Moxi, Sydney AKA @squidney3_13 (she/her)! 👋💗 “Hi! My name is Sydney (she/her) and I am a third-generation Chicanx. I am mixed Mexican-American & White! I was raised in San Diego, CA, and I felt so lucky to grow up and see my culture reflected all over the city. I now live in LA, and I feel a connection to my family here every day! My grandparents were married in Long Beach and they even lived in LA when first immigrating to the U.S. Skating has allowed me to explore the city more, and I love meeting fellow Latinx skaters in my community! I’m a film-maker, comedian, and writer, so I try to draw a lot from my families’ experiences as well as other Chicanx & Latinx artists. It’s my goal always to highlight stories of color, and put the representation on screen that unrepresented communities deserve. I have a Youtube channel called Squid’s. I have all my short films on there, in addition to posting all of my comedy sketches and skating! We have two days left during these celebrations, but uplifting and supporting Latine skaters in our community goes throughout the year!
