Angelica Mesiti’s Relay League at Art Sonje @artsonje_center. This clip is part of an older four channel video installation titled Citizens Band. Each projection features four immigrants performing iterations of their native music. The mesmerizing sounds of the Algerian refugee performing on the Paris metro coupled with the lack of response from the passengers contribute to the feeling of isolation. The relay between the scenes, however, is touching and hopeful as common threads of powerful non-verbal means of communication in unfamiliar and unwelcoming places.
