This Trans Day of Remembrance, we grieve and honor the lives of those taken from us, mourning as we wake up to the violence out of Colorado. We celebrate their lives too, and the future we envision for our people. Attacks on, erasure and exclusion of our trans community from our so-called reproductive movement only lead to more ignorance and violence. Anti-trans rhetoric and fear exist and thrive within these spaces too, and every day we fight for the future our transgender and nonbinary relatives deserve — to live wholly, authentically, and without the threat or fear of violence from white supremacy and transphobia, full of unending joy and celebration.
