Let me make something clear: protecting 30% of our seas by 2030 is the bare minimum required to safeguard our planet’s disappearing wildlife. This is a milestone we must reach, and we must do so in a way that leaves no one behind. This week world leaders are meeting in Montreal for the cop15 Convention on Biological Diversity to decide the fate of our planet and, in turn, all of us. There has not been a global agreement to safeguard nature since 2020, which is why it is so important that world leaders agree on a concrete plan for our planet. This is our chance to engage the entire world in restoring marine life, protecting vital coastal habitats, and unlocking our ocean’s true potential as a climate solution.
