The straight razor is all about the blade unlike scissors where it's about the entire balance of the tool. It does matter that the handle is nice and balances in your hand and fits in your hand. That said, razor handles are much less important part of the tool compared to the actual sharpness of the blade itself. Having a razor that feels and looks good is wonderful though. People over the years have made beautiful wooden razors. @cultandking had one for a while that was incredible and @hairbrained_official makes them from time to time. I have razors from both of these fantastic companies. many of you know that I was in the works for designing one for a long time in partnership with @cultandking The pandemic and lots of hoops to jump through has everything in the small batch, quality made world slow down... You all know about it when it happens. Meantime, a really good starter razor is the one that feather makes. Those are the blades that I've always used and they're simple beginning raiser is nice to learn on. I currently don't know anybody selling a wooden razor unfortunately. The starter one and the blades can be bought from @hairbrained_official if you are a hairstylist learning how to raise or cut don't forget to use lots and lots of tension. Tension is the key to a clean haircut with soft ends. Without incredibly strong tension the razor can't slice across the hair properly which is why it has gotten a bad reputation in the past. Similar to using tons of tension with scissors will make the hairs stand straight out!!! They are almost opposite tools in that way.
