Mum's Letter - I am incredibly lucky to have a physical piece of motivation and comfort to turn to, thanks to my brave and thoughtful mum. Once diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer she clearly knew we would need to hear her voice from time to time, even in written form. And she was right. As always! Even the act itself to put down such important words in the toughest of situations can't help but inspire and put your own worries in perspective. Typically my mum went above and beyond ensuring all our letters were the same length, to the line, as there were no favourites in her eyes - despite my 10 years on my younger sister! Not bitter. A truly unbelievable act in the circumstances and definitely not lost on any of us, which only adds to its impact. Her incredible character and resilience in the final months set the bar for what type of strength we may also require as a family in the months & years to come as we began to bring back some 'normality'. This continues to help me through today and the perfect reference in times of need. A mothers reassuring words, however biased, are always very welcome. For over 17 years her letter has helped. I attempted to soak up those last months, however hard, knowing she wanted to be around for our future and to lead the way. It’s mainly the fun and happy times, with dad also, but there remain those tough moments and days. This is when the letter helps pull me through and reminds me of what she went through for us. We CAN do anything. ‘I need you all to know how much, how very much I love you all. If I go to darling daddy, I will be alright. But I did want to stay with you longer. If I leave its with the greatest regret possible. I know you will feel hurt and cheated and you have suffered so much already. No wild reactions or becoming tearaways. Please try and come through this. Hold fast together, love, care, and help one another. Always be there for one another and stand up for one another. I will be alright, but ache for you all, but will always be with you in your hearts.' Once again your letter has helped me mum. Love you x #aimeverhigh
