zingerrrr☝️💚 #fishcamp #firstyear #ilovemycamp I am beyond grateful for everything that Texas A&M University has given me, but by far my experience in Fish Camp has been some of the most life changing and memorable to date. I went to Fish Camp two years ago not knowing what to expect, but I kept being told how much fun I was going to have. I was told that I would only get out as much as I put into it, that I needed to “drink the Koolaid”, and to keep an open mind. What I didn’t know is that Fish Camp would leave such a large impact on me that I would get the privilege of becoming a counselor two years later. My experience as a first year counselor this summer is nothing like I expected. Sure, I knew that I would be doing a lot of work, learning skits, making crafts, and bonding with my fellow counselors. I didn’t expect to meet 25 amazing new people that I can now genuinely call every single one of them my friend. I love these people with my whole heart, and without them I don’t think I would have had such incredible personal growth the way that I have this summer. As a first year counselor, there is a lot you don’t know about Fish Camp that happens behind the scenes. Even within your own camp. The first year counselor experience would not have been possible without the hard work of the experienced counselors and all of the extra time and hard work that they put in. I thank them for making this time so special for me. And to my chairs: Mason and Leah are some of the most amazing people you will ever meet.Their friendship is so strong, and they both have worked so tirelessly to make sure that the incoming freshman have the best camp experience ever. They have spent so many sleepless nights working so hard to get everything done for us counselors and for the freshman, and never once did I hear them complain. Their work ethic is inspiring, and I can’t imagine a better pair of people to look up to throughout all of this. Overall, if you’re even slightly thinking about submitting the Fish Camp counselor application, submit it. You might get a camp as special as Camp Ariss. I hope I get another opportunity next year to even come close to this. Thank you Fish Camp💚
