Jay Tryon of @cloudzla is one of the student designers showing their graduate collection at Nexus Moda. Jay was born and raised in Los Angeles, where fashion has always felt like his second language. His love for design began through visits to local thrift stores with his grandmother, Beatrice Tryon. She would buy second-hand clothing, and he had the honor of altering those vintage garments by threading the needle. This experience sparked his passion for storytelling. After high school, he initially chose to study psychology and photography over fashion. “In psychology, I explored how colors and textures impact the mind and body, while photography helped me discover my creative voice. Despite these academic paths, I always dreamed of exploring beyond my routine, often escaping mentally to what I called “CLOUDZ.” His collection “Lost in Nature” fuses the raw beauty of nature with contemporary design. It celebrates breathtaking landscapes and natural elements, reimagined through innovative, sustainable fashion. The collection incorporates ethically inspired designs and mindful production practices to minimize environmental impact. With a focus on rich textures, minimalist silhouettes, and modern sophistication, each piece blends luxury with subtle, striking details. The collection thoughtfully addresses gentrification and is tailored for the progressive individual who values elevated, distinctive style with a fresh perspective.
