WARNING - graphic content ⚠️ / I have been accused of making only pretty pictures of wildlife and not sharing the uglier side of what I come across in my line of work. So here is the brutal reality of what is happening to wildlife around the world. This is what the future of our planet's most vulnerable animals and ecosystems will be if we fail to act. These animals are not numbers on a chart or lines within a graph– these are our living, breathing, wild cousins. They have roles within their ecosystems and a part to play in keeping the balance of all life. Many of these species have been here much longer than humans ever walked the Earth. And yet, within decades, we have managed to drive them to a fraction of their former populations. No amount of arguing or negotiating can bring a species back once it is gone. The only thing that will safeguard our planet’s future is HIGHLY and FULLY protecting key marine and land habitats. Right now, delegates are convening at @unep’s Convention on Biological Diversity to decide on a new Global Biodiversity Framework.
