Repost @streetskitchen : Important Information : DRUGS ALERT Hey guys, we have received an update from the local authorities that there is some "dodgy" spice and heroin doing the rounds. We never make any assumptions or judgements of our guests choices/challenges however if you are in conversation where you can share the following advice, please do. What we have heard The police have seized a a beige/yellow substance (I believe it was initially thought to be heroin) and when tested was confirmed positive for Metonitazene. This is regarded as a dangerous substance which has similar toxicity to fentanyl. At least 2 deaths and at least 3 hospitalisations associated with spice have been reported across a number of London boroughs A report of potentially harmful heroin in Lambeth resulting in a number of overdoses has also been received. Service users have advised "heroin that cooks differently and looks different..." What we can do Advise guests to be extra cautious about the sources from which they get their drugs, and about the drugs they take, maybe starting with just a quarter hit of a new supply. seek treatment for drug dependence if not already in treatment watch carefully for the signs of an overdose, e.g. loss of consciousness, shallow or absent breathing, ‘snoring’, and/or blue lips or fingertips be prepared to call immediately for an ambulance if someone overdoses (if this is required please ensure that only ONE member of the team places the call to avoid duplicates) It is important to note that there is no completely safe way to use “spice” (or any other substance) and different batches can produce different effects. As with all drugs, if used, the advice is to be in a safe place ideally with others, start slow and wait until effects have worn off before smoking/taking more.
