A person cannot truly be free knowing that a third party has the power to step in and strip them of their bodily autonomy. The issue of reproductive rights is about so much more than abortion. Access to proper birth control, education, health care, and other crucial resources are at risk. Without these, our freedoms will continue to be limited until we are reduced to our reproductive abilities. If this new legislature was truly about life, then planned parenthood and the broken foster care system would be surrounded by just as much conversation and attention. However it has been made exceedingly clear that sentiments and concerns end the second a child is born. This is, and always has been, about controlling our bodies and our lives. Now more than ever, it is important to stand up for ourselves and for those who have yet to find their voice.
