Y’all know I’m not your go-to man for end of the year lists and/or challenges and whatever else I’m supposed to do when we transition to a new year. I think it’s because I be way too busy enjoying all of you guys’ amazing end of the year lists and challenge posts to do mine 😅, but I did want to reflect on the amazing year I had with books. 1. I created the type of reels I want to watch that merge my love for hip hop and books. 2. I got to build with some of greatest minds to ever craft sentences. 3. I got a chance to build with my favorite rapper LaRussell for my birthday, whilst simultaneously conducting #WoodaWeek 3. I hit 10k—went sky diving—then hit 11k—and I’m lowkey close to 12... which will undoubtedly happen with announcements to come next month. 👀 4. I self published a poetry collection with my brother from another substantially powerful mother. 5. Met a ton of my friends from this community in person this year while working as the #QuestionGod with the MS Book Festival. 6. I hung up my teaching career and switched to Higher Ed Tech which I absolutely love because... 7. It’s a decision that allowed me to do the most important thing which is spend time with my family. 8. I got a chance to do the amazing work of @booksarepopculture with the most amazing partner on the planet (withstanding my actual partner, the actual most amazing partner on the planet... my wife and her trusty side-kick, Shuckey.)! I really couldn’t have asked for a better year which just let’s me know my ancestors are up there pulling hella strings for me. Always + all ways. Wishing you all more prosperity in ‘23!!!
