President Botstein holds a level 1 Menger sponge created by Bard Math CAMP students, who were back on campus after two summers on Zoom! Made from old business cards donated by Bard employees, the Menger sponge is one of many projects undertaken by these middle school math students. CAMP is a math enrichment program of the Bard Math Circle for students in the Hudson Valley, led by Professor Japheth Wood and assisted by Bard College math majors. CAMP was in session at Bard last month, and is now in its ninth year! Last week we also welcomed Bridge to Enter Advanced Mathematics (BEAM) back to campus in person after two remote years. BEAM is now 12 years old, and was always residential at Bard before the pandemic. BEAM students come from low-income schools in New York City to spend three weeks on campus immersed in challenging and exciting math. We are thrilled to see how this program continues to grow. BEAM students have gone on to enroll at the Bard High School Early Colleges and some have continued as college students right here at Bard in Annandale. @beammathhq @bardmathcircle #bardcollege #hudsonvalley
