HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT THE CELEBRATION OF BLACK TRANSWOMEN COOKOUT? Every year the event serves as a fundraiser for a grassroots organization or mutual aid efforts that support black trans women. The first year we supported R.O.A.D.S. and the second year we supported Brazier Ray. Instead of raising funds for the cookout this year, we have been able to secure sponsorship to provide the things we need. We will exclusively raise money for mutual aid that will directly help a black transwomen in need. This year the Celebration of Black Transwomen Cookout will give 100% of the monies raised to Aneika Turner Aka Persia Lace. Anieika is a Black Transwomen that has been diagnosed with breast cancer, and as a result she had to undergo a double mastectomy. Anieka was uninsured until recently, however, her insurance does not cover the entirety of the medical needs. The cost of medical care and every day expenses have put a financial strain on her. This experience has been uniquely challenging for her given that her breast and hair were very important to affirming her gender as a transwoman, and both have gone as a result of the treatment. Persia is a survivor, taking things one day at a time. Anieka needs our help! Anieka should be afforded the space to take care of her health without financial worry.
