In the years we've been together, one of my favorite things about @marshobrecker has consistently been how excited he gets about things. The light in his eyes, the obsessive research he does into every detail about any given subject, whether it's a dinner for our friends or an antique chair for his studio—those of us who love him know this side well. When he directed this attention to a beat-up 1930s apartment near Prospect Park that smelled of stale cigarettes, who was I to turn him away? In spite of my usual hesitation, I was excited, too. The process of fixing up the place took two years and was incredibly difficult. The pipes didn't hold water! Walls had to come down! Everything that could have gone wrong seemed to go wrong. Fortunately, my friends Michael and Kelley, who are cool and smart and run the design studio @tangible.space helped us through it, and now we get to live in this very special space. This sweet feature in the latest issue of @elledecor by @meta__porter and beautifully shot by @winniewow feels like a celebration that we held onto that excitement through it all.
