Former tech executive Kara Goldin took time off in 2004 to care for her health. Forty-five pounds overweight, tired and suffering from acne, her doctor prescribed medication to treat her metabolism. Instead, she changed her diet, switching from 10 cans of diet cola a day to drinking water. She lost 40 pounds in three months and regained her energy. To make plain water more interesting, she boiled it with fruit skins — and Hint water, without sugar or sweeteners, was born. Hint was a hit. According to published reports, its valuation today is listed at $150 million.
