This is easily the largest single Chanterelle I’ve ever seen, what an gorgeous chonky mushroom! Under ideal conditions they can grow for weeks on end, reaching gargantuan proportions like this one. Copious amounts of rain and a solid layer of duff protecting this from getting washed out allowed this specimen to reach such an impressive size. #Cantharelluscalifornicus grows in association with oak trees during the wet season.
