When traveling through Iceland it’s good to always check a few websites before you plan to hit the road: ⚠️ vedur.is This is the official weather website of Iceland (it’s in English too). Beside just seeing what the weather will be like, you can also see if there’s any weather warnings or check where the northern lights are most visible (both more useful in winter). In summer you need it when you want to follow the sun! ⚠️ safetravel.is You can find information about safely traveling through Iceland and weather warnings. But in case you are planning to go for a hike in a remote area you can also leave your travel plan there, so in case something happens, someone will know where you are! ⚠️ road.is You wouldn’t expect it, with a title like that, but you can check the roads on this website! You can see which roads are open (especially useful in winter time or when you want to drive through the highlands), or you can see the road conditions. There’s even webcams to show you live what the road looks like.
