Fun side gig evolved into full-time profession and now she is one of the busiest DJs in Chicago. Whether playing house and nudisco on a sexy rooftop, funk and RnB poolside, or EDM and hip-hop in a packed club, Chess is known for her versatility and eclectic mixes. She has DJed at CMJ, SXSW, Wicker Park Fest, Spring Awakening, Taste of Chicago, and Lollapalooza along with being featured in the Chicago Tribune, Boston Globe, Creator's Project for VICE, URB Magazine and on Refinery29.com. Chess is also 1/3 of @clubmesh and the second member to join our collective after Lani's debut earlier this month. The excitement doesn't stop there because our guest DJ this week is @lavondarocks 👩‍🎤 LaVonda is an educator, DJ and producer from Long Beach, California. She started her musical journey 20 years ago playing guitar and singing in rock bands across Southern California. A love of electronic music inspired her to start making and playing EDM in 2020. Her mission has always been to inspire more women and non-binary folks to pursue a musical path and she is dedicated to uplifting traditionally marginalized individuals in the music industry. She streams mostly tech and bass house 3 times a week on Twitch, and every second Sunday of the month, she does a walking DJ set on the beaches of SoCal where the objective is to spread as much love, joy and good vibes as possible.
