Curious to know what research has been done about the impact of arts on health? Here’s a resource you’ll want to know about. Lead researchers Daisy Fancourt and Saoirse Finn set out to answer the question, “What is the evidence on the role of the arts in improving health and well-being?” They found more than 3,500 published studies from around the world that answer some part of that question, and summarized them in what’s called a scoping review. Published by the World Health Organization, the report focuses on arts in prevention and promotion and how arts can help with management and treatment of health problems, from mental illness to acute disease to end-of-life care.
