A discussion with Robert yesterday on the interest + appeal of inlaid pieces - “If you think about it, in European design it is all about the true outline of something. The drawing tells, for example a chair, what to be. With inlaid furniture, it is not about the outline. It’s about the pattern. And the people making these inlaid pieces felt pattern was far more important to them.
