At Phluid, our team has been trying to process the events from over the weekend and trying to make sense of what’s happening to our communities. What we don’t need is thoughts and prayers. They do nothing. What we need is action and real change. The increasing anti-gay and anti-trans rhetoric empowers and enflames bigotry and hate, fueling rage and violence. Words have power and we continue to see people in power, misinformation and media amplifying hate and fear. The inaction by state and federal authorities to address access to guns must be faced. What’s more important, your own community or the NRA? We are increasingly becoming numb to mass shootings, at that’s incredibly dangerous. In these days we’ve heard about acts of bravery and courage, ordinary folx stepping up to support and protect others. This is a call to action...each of us has the ability to be that brave person, face the darkness of hated and oppression and demand change....Real change! Until then, please keep your thoughts and prayers, it hasn’t proven to make any difference.
