1. Mahnaz Afkhami, former Minister for Women’s Affairs in Iran, visited Georgetown Law on Nov. 7 to discuss her book “The Other Side of Silence,” the Mahsa Amini protests, and support for the human rights movement in Iran.
2. Representative Jamie Raskin (D-MD) spoke at a conference organized by the @americanconstitutionsociety about the state of democracy and a progressive political economy. Raskin covered various topics, including the 2022 midterm elections, the Supreme Court, and the January 6 hearings.
3. Ashish K. Jha, M.D., White House COVID-19 Response Coordinator, and Julie Gerberding, M.D., CEO of the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health and former CDC director, spoke at an Oct. 19 event on domestic and global barriers to effective pandemic preparedness.
4. Georgetown Law alumna Vibha Datta Makhija (L'92), a Senior Advocate at the Indian Supreme Court, visited campusin October to share insights and analysis into how the U.S. Supreme Court and the Indian Supreme Court address women’s reproductive autonomy.
5. Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists Scott Higham and Sari Horwitz of The Washington Post visited Georgetown Law on Oct. 12 to discuss the nation's opioid crisis and its origins.
6+7. Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson (@govasahutchinson) and Connecticut Attorney General William Tong delivered keynote remarks at the 19th Annual Immigration Law and Policy Conference in September.
