“We ‘swiped’ in September 2019. Our first date was perfect. We had instant chemistry and compatability. Soon after moving in together, COVID hit. Who knew that 18-months of a global pandemic would both test our compatibility thoroughly and prove our love profoundly. On October 15, 2021, Jonathan orchestrated a seamless proposal. After arriving at a fake party that no one showed up to, I was whisked away to a beautiful nature preserve on the California coast. Two friends awaited with bikes, which we rode through an open field to a bluff overlooking the ocean. There I found a table with roses, champagne and two boxes. Jonathan dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him. Through happy tears, I said “F*ck YES!” As we held each other, everything went quiet. The silent sacred moment was golden and beautiful and I will remember it forever. We said yes to a lifetime as soulmates this month. In ways that most will never understand our wedding was a risk and a leap of faith catalyzed by a long and ongoing journey of learning and expanding and losing and letting go. While ours was indeed a wedding celebrating the loving union of two, we cannot get over the abundance of love we felt as we witnessed beautiful flames of friendship sparking to life everywhere we looked, as family met old friends, new friends became family, and our table expanded more that we ever thought possible.
