Differentiating your business, especially when you have LOTS of competition, can feel near impossible. How do you carve out what makes you unique when you do the SAME thing as everyone else? 🫤 Here’s a little-known concept I use, called Convergence. It’s the act of combining 2 distinct concepts to solve an untapped need for a specific audience. It can sometimes mean anchoring a novel idea to a familiar concept. Why should you care about being unique? Uniqueness creates perceived value...which allows you to charge a premium...because people can’t get what you offer anywhere else. When you offer a new solution to an underserved / untapped market, you create an emotional connection to your market. Here are a few examples: 🔥 Mid-Day Squares - converging the indulgence of a delicious chocolate bar with the function and health benefits of a protein bar. 🔥 Liquid Death - converging boring water with the cool-factor of an energy drink 🔥 Peloton - converging an at-home bike with the motivation and accountability you get from group classes and in-person workouts 🔥 Sweetgreen - converging fast food with heathy living + sustainability If you look at most successful brands, and how they made their mark, you’ll see that they likely converged 2 distinct ideas. Share in the comments how you use convergence for your brand. WANT TO WIN MORE BUSINESS?
