Can you say Mile High Magic!
As I continue my Big Brothers Big Sisters of America CEO Tour across the country what a magical and elevated experience visiting Denver and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado staff, board, alumni, donors, Bigs and Littles. This organization is led by a phenomenal CEO, youth advocate and a great human being in Elycia Cook!
It’s an organization that’s living out the true sense of a JEDI journey (Justice, Equity, Diversity Inclusion) across their programs, practices and commitments. I spent time connecting with their amazing staff and board discussing the state of youth, the impact of mentoring and the vision for our work to meet young people and families where they are and empower them to thrive.
I was also inspired to connect with a group of the most fierce and influential CEOs you will meet. I’m delighted that over the past year and a half Big Brothers Big Sisters across the country have seen increased number of CEOs of color that are diversifying and strengthening our mission. Thank you Elycia, Alonda Williams, Jeannine Gant, Lillian Samuel, MNA and Charmayne Turner for the spirited connection and inviting me to witness #BlackGirlMagic in action!
And finally our young people thrive when there is a strong community around them. I saw a powerful example of this at the BBBSC Big Little Gala last night. From the Big and Little Stories to a record night of fundraising to advance mentoring we are more powerful and kids are more empowered when we are together. Proud to have a played a small role in sharing the national vision for our mission and collaborating with this invested community.
This is what it means to be #biggertogether
