Produce in focus for November: Apple ๐ŸŽ ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ Apples have been cultivated in Asia and Europe for thousands of years, in Sweden probably since the 11th century. A wild apple from 2500 BC has been found in charred form in Oฬˆstergoฬˆtland. In our Nordic climate we have large temperature differences between day and night in both summer and autumn. This gives the fruit a long and well-balanced ripening process. This results in tasty apples that often have a thinner skin than imported apples. In the kitchen we will be working with a number of different interesting Swedish apple varieties Rossvik, Aroma, AฬŠkeroฬˆ, Rubinola etc. Now autumn is here and the season for Swedish apples is at its best. Privately, I'll be making coarse ground applesauce at Gravensteiner with cinnamon and ginger so I can make it through the winter at home. In November, the Swedish fruit will be an apple dessert at Rutabaga. Enjoy the autumn !
