Thankfully this is a rare occurrence, but wanted to bring awareness to this. A 2015 single center retrospective study showed that 64% of the 81 patients enrolled had successful treatment of the hair tourniquet with one or two treatments of a chemical depilatory (aka hair removal cream, like Nair).
