In 2013, Noah composed a series of works called ‘1975’, referencing his mother Faith Davis’s photography of the everyday while growing up in Chicago during the 1970’s. “My first job out of high school was as a lifeguard at the community pool in Chicago. By then, I had discovered how much I enjoyed being an invisible observer behind a lens. I took photos for the pure pleasure of having permission to look more closely, to look a little longer. Photography was a way for me to frame a future for myself. I constantly asked myself, ‘What do I want to see in my new world?’”- Faith Davis The images remained undeveloped for nearly forty years until discovered by Noah and brother Kahlil Joseph in their late father Keven Davis’s Harlem apartment. NOAH DAVIS is open now through September 30th 2022. Come through! We are accepting walk-ins. Image 1: Noah Davis, ‘1975 (8)’ (2013) Image 2: Faith Davis, Chicago, 1978
