EKIN VAN TOUR As the EKIN VAN TOUR makes it’s final stops on the BEST COAST AKA the EAST COAST I wanted to give everyone a glimpse of what the first couple of stops looked and felt like. @missnewmoody_ called me one afternoon while I was driving home with my family and said “I have this crazy idea that I want to share with you”, 10 minutes into the phone call I said fuck it I’m down. Congrats on brining this baby to fruition. The sole purpose of the EKIN VAN TOUR was to bring the magic of running camps across the nation. To bring a fire that only EKINs can bring. To educate and inspire the next generation of athletes. To give them something to look forward too this upcoming race season. After kicking off stop #1 of the final leg, it’s safe to say we are still doing exactly that. I have so many stories that we will save for another time but the most powerful takeaway for me was truly understanding how much representation matters. How the few kids of color I met would gravitate towards me. The impact that I was able to have on some kids on a personal level because I understood exactly how they were feeling and how much harder they have to work to get to where they are at. Running is much more than a sport but a fundamental tool in the game of life. If you zoom out far enough to look at things from a macro level, it can teach exactly what you need to learn. To keep a long story short.
