✨FEDERICA ANGELUCCI’s FINDINGS We are ending the year - and welcoming the new one- with a beautiful series of Bruno Boudjelal (@bruno_boudjelal), Federica Angelucci’s last finding : “Departure landscapes”. More than a series, this is an important reflexion on how we see things: "Departure landscapes" is a series realised in Algeria, in the regions of Annaba and Oran, on the shores from which migrants depart clandestinely towards Europe. With his back to Africa, facing the Spanish and Italian coasts, Franco-Algerian photographer Bruno Boudjelal produces surprising images of white landscapes, evoking the glaring light on these beaches and the progressive fading of such landscape in the memories of those who leave their country. The pigment used for the prints, which are produced with the technique of gum bichromated, is made from stones collected on the departureshores. Martina, Bruno and I wondered whether these impalpable images would have been clear enough to be seen on a phone screen. At the end, we decided to challenge you anyway, since the effort to see imperceptible traces may allow us to sharpen our gaze and see things we didn’t see before. Taking the time to share the last look that migrants give to their native country is perhaps a way to understand them a bit better.”
