So my dad @randyg26 sent these video to me! The lil tike in all black holding a camera thats as big as him is ME!! This video was filmed in 1998 meaning I was only 10 years old. Fast forward 24 years later that same kid would go on to work on 3 major network day time shows, 6 NBA Finals, 9 NBA Playoffs, 2 Stanley Cup finals, a few major award shows, tour with some of his favorite artists, own a creative agency and basically accomplish everything he prayed for at 10 years old. I needed to see this video. Full transparency, I’ve been struggling to find place in an industry that I literally grew up in. The industry has grown so much and I feel people have diminished the value of many content creators. Being able to shoot and edit was a skill that not many black kids knew was an option as vocation growing up. For many years I was always the youngest and one of few black people on shows. It brings me great joy now to see that black and brown people really have grown to dominate in film and television as well as content creation. I guess I can say I’m OG in this!!
