On Friday, May 6, 2022, I had the honor of being interviewed by Samara Mootoo of CTV's etalk, while giving her a tour of my solo Project T-Dot photography exhibit at Toronto's City Hall and Nathan Phillips Square. Soon after I began describing Project T-Dot, what and who inspired and contributed to the project and my current exhibit, and some of the nuances that define Toronto's hip-hop community and history, I learned that the cameraman that was recording us was Basil Young, who is coincidentally the brother of Tony "Master T" Young -- the incredible, trailblazing, Toronto-based television and radio personality that I used to watch on Much Music's Rap City as a kid, among other innovative platforms that he created or contributed to. Basil shared some amazing insights and rare stories about Toronto's hip-hop community (and the American hip-hop industry in the 90s) with me, as he recorded my etalk segment, and on Monday, May 30, 2022 at 7:00 PM EST, I made my first television appearance, on Canadian national television. Thank you to CTV and etalk, thank you to my amazing publicist Randy Phipps, thank you to Samara Mootoo and Basil Young for their professionalism, thank you to Chloe Wilde for introducing me and my largest art exhibit to date to etalk's audience, and thank you to etalk's Tyrone "T-Rex" Edwards, for his support of Project T-Dot, for getting me into Kadinal Offishal's Christmas party in 2007, specifically for Project T-Dot, without initially meeting me in-person beforehand. And I am also grateful for his contributions to Toronto's hip-hop community, and for his contributions to Toronto's Black community. Project T-Dot is not nearly complete, there are many elements to it beyond my current exhibit and the hundreds of thousands of photographs that have been shot for it, and there are many important stories to tell about the amazing people that define Toronto's hip-hop. I am grateful for everyone that has supported Project T-Dot so far, and I encourage all Torontonians and anyone that travels to Toronto this summer, to check out the exhibit before it ends on Monday, September 5, 2022. #tv #etalk #art #hiphop #toronto
