This post will hopefully help some of you out there that play video games competitively on controller like I do. I know it’s not a normal post of mine but this could save of few of you a good amount of money. If you don’t play video games, I wouldn’t read too much more into this post.
I set out a couple months ago to buy an elite style controller so I could have a similar competitive edge as some of the players I play against. When I was looking online these controllers are going for 200+ dollars, until I found the DIY friendly version that changed the game for me.
On the left is a @scufgaming controller. It has digital triggers, design front plate, and back paddle attachments that can be reprogrammed to any button on the front of the controller. It was 205 shipped to my door.
On the right is a normal PS4 controller with the @extremerate DIY back button attachment (dawn 2.0 kit). After about a 30 minute install the controller will have reprogrammable back button attachment, grips for better handling of controller when hands get sweaty, trigger stops so you can shoot and aim down sight faster in FPS games. The attachment that can be installed on a PS4 controller was 32 dollars from Amazon
Scuf controller pros and cons:
Pros:
-6 month warranty on the entire controller
-known brand that has been in this industry for a long time (not necessarily good honestly)
Cons:
-Very expensive for a controller
-Very bad history of controllers breaking within the year of buying it
-terrible joysticks that have a history of only lasting for a month before having to buy new joysticks on the scuf website
-over a month wait time from purchase to receiving of product
Extremerate dawn 2.0 DIY kit pros and cons:
Pros:
-very cheap
-very nice installation video on there YouTube channel
-after purchasing, received product in 2 business days
-customizable back controller housing
-very good history of working for a long time
-DIY kit can be moved from controller to controller without having to buy new kit (PS4 controller themselves break from time to time)
