There are a lot of drink lies and fables told over the years. And here are some of the most popular:
1️⃣ “Beer before liquor will get you sicker.” In truth, anything carbonated will fill more space in your stomach, which creates the bloating feeling. And any combination of low proof and high proof can be tricky for pacing your level of sobriety. Beer and liquor can be consumed together, as long as it’s in moderation and with water.
2️⃣ “Tequila is better for you because it’s made from
Vegetation.” I hear this one all the time. Yes, it’s made from agave (and not grain). However, it’s a distillate with the same caloric count as any other spirits between 40% - 45% ABV (around 69 calories an ounce). It will intoxicate you the same way as that whiskey or vodka. It mostly has to do with taste preferences!
3️⃣ “if I chug water before bed I won’t get a hangover.” Sorry bud, but you needed to consume water all throughout the night. Every bit of hydration will help and those last gulps before hitting the sack will alleviate some pain. However, in order to keep your body on track for a good morning you need to sip H2O during the entire duration of your drinking.
4️⃣ “men have better tolerance level than women.” Repeat after me...... there’s no gender in drinking. Your tolerance level is a direct correlation to your body and multiple facets of it (height, weight, BMI, metabolism, etc). All of these factors contribute to the ways in which your body can handle alcohol.
